For all the “Da Vinci Code” fanatics out there who are obsessed with art pieces and the conspiracy theories around them, this is for you. People seem to believe that there are some of the most famous art pieces in the world contain hidden messages.
Although most of these theories are attributed to artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, there were other artists too who had supposedly hopped onto the growing trend.
Here are our top picks for famous paintings with intriguing conspiracies linked to them.
1. The Last Supper
Researcher Sabrina Sforza Galitza believes that The Last Supper, created by Da Vinci, predicted the end of this world. No one knows how the researcher came up with this theory but she seems convinced that the half-moon window above Jesus contains some astrological and mathematical clues that tell about “the final destruction” that, according to her, will take place in the year 4006.
2. The Mona Lisa
People seem to believe that there’s a secret message hidden in the eyes of the Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa was made using a simple technique of art that makes you feel as though she is staring at you no matter where you stand in front of the painting. Another interesting fact about this painting is that back in 2010, upon closer inspection, Italy’s National Committee of Cultural Heritage observed that the pupils of her eyes contained secret letters and numbers in them. In the right eye, the artist has written his initials LV, while the numbers in the other eye are still yet to be discovered as they are difficult to decode.
3. Cafe Terrace At Night
Cafe Terrace At Night portrays exactly what its name would lead you to believe. However, researcher Jared Baxter is certain that there’s more to it than just that. According to Baxter, this painting, created by Vincent Van Gogh, is an interpretation of The Last Supper by Da Vinci. Looking closely at the picture, you will notice that there is a long-haired person standing in the center of the terrace, and he happens to be surrounded by a total of 12 individuals. But if you look towards the left of the painting, you see the shadow of a person sneaking away - is that Judas?
So which of the conspiracy theories do you think is most plausible?
